Truly Appalling

I am pretty much lost for words on this one…. This is what the Mountain Man/Man Mountain plaque says…
“Mountain Man/Man Mountain eulogises and mythologises the landscape and people of the Great Western Tiers. He has been cast in concrete and clad with shimmering coloured glass mosaics. Mountain Man’s lips offer a seat to passer-by, highlighting his functionality as a piece of sculptural furniture.”I kid you not. God only knows what the Great Western Tiers people did to deserve this ! Horrifying isn’t it…would you sit on it’s lips? It looks like an evil urinal. The artist obviously had connections to get this approved.
It reminds me of another horrifying attempt at public art, the Fred and Mary Tree Stumps
And we all know what happened to FRED !!!!!

I second the motion, truly appalling. I heard that people were absolutely horrified when it was unveiled in 2002. You only mentioned Mountain Man, there are two other sculptures unveiled at the same time and they do not fare any bettter.

When ‘Mountain Man’ arrived we thought it was a North Korean plot so we wrote
to the Meander Valley Council demanding it’s return to President Kim. The council swung into action and ignored our request. A once beautiful park on the
banks of the Meander River is now a ‘fun park’ full of ‘f-art’. Help!

Now here’s a shoe-in for the list of the year’s best gaming-related clothing : Adidas has brought back its ZX 500 running shoe, and, since it originally hails from the ’80s, the gaming galvanized design and coloring is a no-brainer … Right? The kicks would possibly not be the coolest part of the deal, either ; they come packed with a combination bracelet/USB flashdrive containing ZX Runner, a computer game based primarily on … The shoe itself.
GameCulture writes that the game stars a personality named’DJ Zed’ who, according to Adidas, has 5 mins to’run, moon-walk, climb walls, avoid some dodgy-looking thugs, collect power-ups, and pull off loony rooftop-to-rooftop stunts’ to get on-stage before his set starts. It looks fittingly retro — see for yourself in the video we’ve included after the breakdance.
