Remember the moment  the statue of Saddam Hussein was unceremoniously ripped from it’s plinth during the US led invasion of Iraq in 2003? Well an elite SAS regiment soldier, Nigel “Spud” Ely, was there and he retrieved a 2ft piece of Saddam’s butt using a hammer and crowbar. Now he’s auctioning as a “war relic art” in England.

The statue of the lark trapped in barbed wire, which honors the Irish Hunger strikers, in Free Derry (Northern Ireland) has been damaged . The lark which sat on top of the H Block shaped structure near Free Derry Corner, was removed in the incident. The Irish tricolour, which is raised to commemorate the anniversary of hunger striker Kevin Lynch, was also taken. So far no one has been charged over the damage and theft.

The Bloomingdale High School (Tampa) has had their 400-lb anatomically correct bronze bull statue returned (just in case you were wondering) Yes, the school mascot was stolen from its anchors Monday Night. Following a tip off the big bovine was found in a storage facility.No arrests have been made as of yet.

King Edward VII StatueKing Edward VII, also known as “Tum Tum”, was Queen Victoria’s son. He, like Prince Charles, was kept waiting to become king, by a very healthy mother. In fact poor old Tum Tum holds the record for the longest heir apparent. When Edward finally took the throne in 1902 he soon became a popular King, despite his indiscretions with numerous women. One of the king’s last mistress’s was believed to have been socialite Alice Keppel, none other than Camilla Parker Bowles great grandmother (apples don’t fall far…). Rumor has it Camilla’s grandmother, Sonia Keppel, was the illegitimate daughter of Edward. Now wont that will give you something to think about next time you see a Edward VII statue?
