A life size bronze statue of a teenager carrying an American flag has been stolen from McIntyre Company in Covina. This is the second time the statue has been nicked, the first time it was retrieved from a local scrap metal business. Police believe the culprits are intending to cash it in for scrap metal again. They used a chain attached to a vehicle to remove the life sized statue (they were keen!).

The 300lb memorial statue to Shana Kay, who died from contracting viral encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), has been stolen outside a Long Island Library. The bronze statue depicting a girl reading a book on a bench is believed to have been stolen for scrap metal (what a surprise!). The thieves had ripped it from its cement and bolt moorings. Jane Kay’s mom said it’s “a sad commentary on humanity.”
